The Holden Dealer Team Gemini started out life as a privateer’s car.

The car first raced at Bathurst in 1980 as the Cinzano Car driven by Gary Leggatt and David Seldon.

Gary Leggatt and David Seldon acquired a spare TE rolling shell from George Shepherd who'd been building them into rally cars at the time, and built a new car and was subsequently logged by CAMS as an Isuzu PF60E ZZ (Twin Cam Gemini) Production Touring Car, Group C with 1817cc capacity.  The car was completed just in time for Bathurst  in 1980, except that the injection gear failed to materialise.

In a panic Gary & David asked Headly McGee of speedway fame, if he could manafacture a speedway-type constant-flow system for them in the remaining 10 days. He agreed, and on the Thurs before the race they took it straight to Bathurst unfinished and untried.  The car had issues due to not having had any form of testing prior to the race.

The car missed and back-fired and would hardly run. So Gary and David ordered a new set of injectors and these arrived on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday evening, David Seldon went to see the Bathurst Police, asked for the duty Sergeant, and explained their predicament, and was there somewhere they could go for testing?

In a loud voice he said - "Don't be ridiculous! I can't give you permission to break the law!"

But then he quietly added "We will be rigorously patrolling the highway into and out of town.   But, if you go out on the Molong Rd about 6 miles there's a good straight stretch of road where you won't be troubled..."

So, Garry and David travelled to Molong Road and blasted up and down the road testing, and then stopping to drill-out the injectors and try again. Problem solved!  The following day on Race Day the car the car failed after approximately 80 laps with fuel pump failure.  (David Seldon advises approx. 80 laps, Wikipedia advises 18 laps??)
